What you need to go through the program

To go through the program you will need the following accessories:

– a 2 meters long elastic band in medium to high strength

– a small 18 cm Pilates ball

– a set of fitness sliders

– Two 1 kg weights.

For UK customers we offer a Restart kit, with all the needed accessories (except the pair of 1kg weights which you will need in weeks 5 and 10). The kit costs 49£ and shipping is included.

You can chose to purchase your own accessories elsewhere , or replace some of them with common household objects (the weights can be replaced with small water bottles or rice packs, the sliders can be replaced with coasters or kitchen towels).

FAQ

Q: I have never done Pilates, and it’s been a while since I exercised - can I still do the program?

A: Absolutely. The program is designed to work for different fitness levels, including total beginners. Every workout includes detailed explanations, including modifications to help you tackle exercises you are not (yet) able to do. You also get access to our basic principles of Pilates video and to our library of deep dive videos which teach you modifications to make some advanced exercises more accessible to beginners. The workouts will feel very hard and challenging at first, but you are not expected to succeed in doing each and every exercise to its full extent from the get go. With each week of workouts you will complete, you will get stronger, fitter and more able. By the time you start the second cycle of the program, and repeat all the workouts from the start, a second time, you will be amazed at what you can now do.

Q: I am no beginner, and have been doing Pilates for several years, would this program be challenging enough for me?

A: You bet it will. If you are able to do every exercise to its full extent, you will get one serious workout and your muscles will work hard. The workouts are advanced, but accessible to different levels through the available modifications and adjustments. If you are feeling strong, go at it in full force and perform the exercises at their most advanced version. We guarantee by the end of it you will feel fitter than ever. You might also really enjoy the combination of flowing from one exercise to the next with the yoga elements and barre routines, which add a lot of variety to the program.

Q: How is this different from other available online workouts?

A: Restart is a progressively built program designed to challenge and push you, week after week, as you build strength and flexibility. We guide you through 3 different original full body workouts each week, specifically designed to challenge your entire body in different ways. While each workout is different, we do tackle familiar exercises, in different ways, throughout the program, so as you build strength and flexibility and become more able, your muscles keep being challenged as you progress through the workouts. Restart is doing that without constant repetition and while keeping you engaged and not bored.

Q: What makes ReSTART so effective?

A: Our original method, the dynamic flow Pilates method, guides you through ‘flows’ of non-stop diversified movement that will bring your heart rate and energy up and help you burn serious calories while lengthening and toning your muscles and increasing your flexibility.

Unlike regular mat Pilates classes, you will be going through some specially designed routines incorporating accessories such as an elastic band, a Pilates ball and Pilates sliders, to mimic the work usually done on the Pilates reformer and other apparatuses. As a result you will see incredibly beautiful and noticeable results in your body, your strength and your general well-being. You will work very hard for the duration of each workout (usually around 35 minutes), but you will see results like never before.

Q: What do you mean by a ‘low impact’ workout?

A: Unlike High impact exercises (such as running, jogging, jumping and other workouts where the body is making contact with, or pounding, the ground), low impact exercises typically mean that one foot stays in contact with the ground. They’re easier on your body—your joints will thank you—and they can be a great way to get in a heart-pumping workout without worrying too much about injuries. That in no way means you won’t be working hard, burning calories and building strength, flexibility and balance, it just means you will likely minimise the aches and pains that can come along with high-impact workouts.

Q: What if I fall behind schedule, would I still have access to the previous week’s workouts?

A: Life happens, we understand. You are sick, the kids are unwell, work piles up, you go on holiday. That’s why each week we give you access to your weekly workouts, but you can also still access any of your previous workouts, which will always remain open. If you choose to subscribe to the monthly subscription, you will have access the the workouts for as long as you are subscribed. It’s also why we are offering a year’s long access to a program that’s designed to last 12 weeks. If you fall behind, you have that extra time to catch up. We want you to succeed, not to add one more thing for you to get stressed about.

Q: I am pregnant, just gave birth, have an old injury, is this for me?

A: This program is not recommended during pregnancy and we suggest you wait at least 6 weeks after giving birth and get an approval from your physician to start exercising again, before joining us.

While every attempt has been made to walk you through the exercises in the safest most responsible way, and we do offer modifications if you are feeling your neck or lower back during the exercises, if you suffer from any condition or from previous injuries, please don’t commence the program before getting prior approval from your physician or other responsible medical practitioner.
